The Opportunity

Are you a recent Science graduate with a passion for education?

An excellent secondary school in Birmingham is looking for a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This role offers the perfect chance to gain classroom experience ahead of teacher training, supporting Science lessons across Key Stages 3 & 4. As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers, engage directly with students, and play a key part in inspiring the next generation of scientists.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering exciting and interactive Biology, Chemistry, and Physics lessons
  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support
  • Assist with practical experiments and ensure Science resources are well managed
  • Promote positive behaviour and an organised learning environment
  • Foster students’ enthusiasm and curiosity for Science
  • Get involved in extracurricular STEM clubs and activities

Graduate Science Teaching Assistant – Who We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from ambitious graduates who have:

  • A minimum 2:1 degree in a Science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Sciences, Engineering)
  • A passion for Science and education
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive, enthusiastic approach to supporting learning
  • A genuine commitment to working with young people and pursuing a teaching career
  • (Desirable) Experience supporting young people – e.g. tutoring, mentoring, volunteering
