This fully salaried, school-based route provides hands-on classroom experience alongside academic training, enabling you to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE within one academic year.
About the Programme
This programme is designed to immerse you in the realities of teaching while providing structured support and training:
- Spend 4½ days per week in school, gaining real classroom experience from day one.
- Dedicate ½ day per week to study, professional development, and academic learning.
- Achieve QTS and a PGCE by July 2027.
- Receive guidance from experienced Science mentors, subject specialists, and trust-wide CPD.
- Follow a phased, structured development plan to build confidence, subject expertise, and classroom management skills.
This practical, career-focused route is ideal for graduates seeking a fully supported introduction to teaching.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for ambitious graduates who:
- Hold (or are predicted) a 2:1 degree or higher in Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related subject.
- Have GCSE Grade C / 4 or above in both English and Maths.
- Are passionate about teaching Science and inspiring young people.
- Possess strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Respond positively to feedback and thrive in a school environment.
- Are motivated to progress into a long-term career in teaching.
