What will you be doing?

As a Science Trainee Teacher, you'll gradually take on increasing responsibility as your confidence develops. You will:

  • Support and deliver engaging Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics, depending on your specialism
  • Encourage curiosity through practical investigations and scientific enquiry
  • Help students develop their scientific knowledge, practical skills and critical thinking
  • Observe and learn from experienced teachers
  • Work closely with your mentor and wider teaching team
  • Plan and deliver your own lessons as your training progresses
  • Complete a recognised teacher training programme leading to QTS

Your training journey

The programme is designed to give you extensive experience in a real secondary school environment while providing structured academic and professional development.

Term 1: Observe experienced teachers and begin supporting lessons

Term 2: Start planning and delivering your own lessons

Term 3: Take on increased responsibility and refine your teaching practice

Throughout the year, you'll receive regular feedback, dedicated mentoring and ongoing support as you develop into a confident classroom practitioner.

Who are we looking for?

We're keen to hear from graduates who have:

  • A Science-related degreesuch as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Sciences or a related subject, ideally at 2:1 or above
  • Strong A-Levels in Maths and/or Science
  • Excellent subject knowledge
  • Confident communication skills
  • A genuine interest in working with young people
  • A clear ambition to build a career in teaching

No previous classroom experience is required. What matters most is your enthusiasm for Science, commitment to learning and genuine desire to make a difference to young people.
