Graduate SEN Learning Support Assistant – Person Specification

We are searching for a Graduate SEN Learning Support Assistant who:

  • 2:1 or higher degree from a leading university – ideally in Psychology, Education, Child Development, or a closely related subject
  • Experience supporting children or young people in any capacity, classroom-based, tutoring, mentoring or care work
  • A clear commitment to a long-term career in education, mental health, special needs, or youth development
  • A strong understanding of, or willingness to learn about, a wide range of SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language difficulties

Graduate SEN Learning Support Assistant: Your Role

As a Graduate SEN Learning Support Assistant, you’ll become a vital presence in the classroom and beyond. Day to day, you’ll be:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEN needs
  • Working closely with the SENCO team to help create individual targets and support plans
  • Supporting with classroom management and ensuring student safety and wellbeing at all times
  • Playing a key role in pastoral care, being a consistent and trusted adult for students who may not have many
