A group of inclusive and welcoming mainstream primary and secondary schools in Enfield are searching for dedicated individuals to join them as Graduate SEN Teaching Assistants for the 2025/26 academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates to work alongside experienced SEN professionals, develop their understanding of special educational needs, and play an important role in helping pupils thrive.

The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll support students with a variety of additional needs including autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional challenges. You’ll work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide high-quality, targeted support to help students access learning and develop their independence.

Key Duties as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide in-class and withdrawal support for pupils with SEN.
  • Work 1:1 or with small groups to deliver personalised interventions.
  • Help implement EHCP strategies and adapt learning resources as needed.
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour, and social interaction.
  • Encourage participation and build students' confidence and self-esteem.
  • Liaise with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure holistic support.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils feel safe and valued in the classroom.

Who We're Looking For – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

This Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role is ideal for a graduate who is:

  • Degree-qualified (2:1 or above) in Psychology, Education, Health & Social Care, or a related subject.
  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a school setting.
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient communicator.
  • Confident working with children or young people – experience from tutoring, mentoring, youth work, or care is highly beneficial.
  • Committed, punctual, and available full-time during term time.
  • Open to learning from experienced SEN staff and engaging in training opportunities.
