Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
Full-Time | Permanent | Immediate Start or September 2026
Salary: £500–560 per week
Are you a driven and caring graduate ready to take your first step into education?
Do you want to play a genuine role in helping children with additional needs thrive in the classroom?
Are you looking for a rewarding, long-term opportunity that could lead into teacher training?
On behalf of a warm, inclusive and highly supportive primary school in the Sheffield area, we are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates (or those graduating this academic year) who are serious about building a career in education and want meaningful, hands-on experience from day one.
About the Role:
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will become a key part of the school’s SEND provision, supporting pupils who need additional help to access learning and succeed. You’ll work closely with children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping to break down barriers to learning and build confidence, independence and engagement. Alongside experienced staff, you’ll help deliver inclusive, well-structured lessons and contribute to a positive, supportive classroom culture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver focused 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
• Work alongside teachers to support engaging, accessible lesson delivery
• Help create a calm, inclusive and positive learning environment
• Support pupils’ academic progress as well as their social and emotional development
Who We’re Looking For:
• Graduates with a 2:2 degree or above (Psychology, Education, Core Subjects or related preferred)
• Calm, patient and genuinely motivated individuals who want to make a difference
• Some experience working with children or young people (school, tutoring, mentoring, youth work etc.)
• A strong interest in SEN and supporting pupils with additional needs
• Must have the right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
About the School:
This Sheffield primary school is known for its welcoming atmosphere, inclusive ethos and strong commitment to pupil wellbeing and achievement. Staff work closely together to ensure every child is supported and challenged appropriately, with a real focus on nurturing confidence and independence.
The school has an excellent track record of developing graduate staff, with many going on to complete successful teacher training routes. For the right candidate, this role offers a clear and valuable stepping stone into a long-term career in education (though this is not essential).
If you’re ready to step into a role where every day makes a difference, and you want to build real experience in a supportive school environment, we’d love to hear from you.
