£500 - 560 per week

Job Type: Full Time

Duties:

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
Full-Time | Temporary | September 2026

Salary: £500–560 per week

Are you a driven and caring graduate ready to take your first step into education as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant?

Do you want to play a genuine role in helping children with additional needs thrive in the classroom?

Are you looking for a rewarding, long-term opportunity that could lead into teacher training or a role in educational therapy?

On behalf of a warm, inclusive and highly supportive SEND specialist school in the Sheffield area. We are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates (or those graduating this academic year) who are serious about building a career in education and want meaningful, hands-on experience from day one.

About the Role:
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will become a key part of the school’s SEND provision, supporting pupils who need additional help to access learning and succeed. You’ll work closely with children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping to break down barriers to learning and build confidence, independence and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver focused 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
• Work alongside teachers to support engaging, accessible lesson delivery
• Support pupils’ academic progress as well as their social and emotional development

Who We’re Looking For:
• Graduates with a 2:2 degree or above (Psychology, Education, Core Subjects or related preferred) – this can be a predicted grade for 2026 graduates
• Calm, patient and genuinely motivated individuals who want to make a difference
• Some experience working with children or young people (school, tutoring, mentoring, youth work etc.)
• A strong interest in SEN and supporting pupils with additional needs
• Must have the right to work in the UK

About the School:
This Sheffield SEND specialist school is known for its welcoming atmosphere, inclusive ethos and strong commitment to pupil wellbeing and achievement. Staff work closely together to ensure every child is supported and challenged appropriately, with a real focus on nurturing confidence and independence.

The school has an excellent track record of developing graduate staff, with many going on to complete successful teacher training routes or to pursue careers as educational therapists. For the right candidate, this role offers a clear and valuable stepping stone into a long-term career in SEND education (though this is not essential).

If you’re ready to step into a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role where every day makes a difference, and you want to build real experience in a supportive school environment, we’d love to hear from you.
