The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant:
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll support pupils aged 4–11 with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and social or emotional challenges.
You’ll provide tailored one-to-one support, assist with small-group interventions, and work alongside class teachers to adapt learning activities and resources to suit individual needs. Your role will be to help pupils engage with lessons, build confidence in their abilities, and make progress at their own pace.
You’ll also help children strengthen their communication, independence, and social skills, becoming a valued member of the school’s wider support team. This is an opportunity to see first-hand how patience, encouragement, and personalised support can make a meaningful difference to a child’s development.
This Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity is ideal for graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in special education before progressing into teacher training or specialist support roles. You’ll develop practical skills, deepen your understanding of additional needs, and learn effective approaches to supporting children in an inclusive learning environment.
With continued guidance from experienced SEN professionals, this role offers an excellent foundation for graduates considering future careers in teaching, SEN education, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, or other child-focused professions.
If you’re enthusiastic about supporting young learners and want to begin a career where you can make a genuine difference, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
