Are you a 2:1 or above graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting students with special educational needs?

A welcoming secondary school in Leicester (LE2) is seeking a confident, compassionate and dedicated Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their support team.

The Role

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN.
  • Support students with their academic, social and emotional development.
  • Assist students with additional learning needs both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers and the school's SEN team to support individual learning plans.
  • Encourage students to develop their confidence, independence and engagement.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Adapt your communication and approach to meet individual student needs.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a graduate who:

  • Holds a 2:1 or above degree in a relevant field, such as Psychology, Education, Sociology, Health & Social Care, Childhood Studies or a related subject.
  • Is confident working with children and young people with SEN.
  • Has a patient, calm and supportive approach.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is passionate about helping young people reach their potential.
  • Is reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Is considering a future career in education, psychology, SEN or teaching.

Previous experience working with SEN is desirable, but strong candidates with relevant experience or transferable skills will also be considered.

DBS Requirement

A DBS check will be required for this position. Candidates who do not currently hold a suitable DBS will be required to complete one as part of the recruitment process.
