Turn your interest in supporting others into a meaningful career.
Every student deserves the opportunity to feel included, develop their confidence and achieve their potential. As a Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll help make that possible.
Are you a graduate who is passionate about education, inclusion and helping young people overcome barriers to learning?
Perhaps you're considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, counselling, therapy or specialist SEND provision. If so, this could be an opportunity to gain the practical experience you're looking for.
KPI Education is working with an inclusive secondary school in Coventry seeking a dedicated Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant to join its team.
You'll work alongside experienced teachers and SEND professionals, supporting students with a variety of additional needs and helping them get the most from their education.
What does the role involve?
No two students are the same, so you'll need to be adaptable, encouraging and responsive to individual needs.
You'll play an important part in helping students participate in lessons, work towards their targets and develop the skills they need to become more confident and independent learners.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Delivering 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEND
-
Helping students access classroom learning and the wider curriculum
-
Supporting pupils to work towards their individual targets
-
Encouraging the development of confidence, independence and communication skills
-
Establishing positive and trusting relationships with young people
-

-
Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCO and pastoral team
-
Adapting support to reflect individual learning needs
-
Encouraging participation, engagement and positive involvement in school life
-
Sharing relevant observations and feedback about student progress
You may support students with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
What will you bring?
We're looking for a graduate who combines a genuine interest in SEND with the interpersonal skills and commitment needed to support young people effectively.
Ideally, you'll have:
-
A 2:1 degree or above, preferably in Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies or a related subject
-
A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Patience, empathy and resilience
-
The ability to develop positive, professional relationships
-
A flexible, proactive and adaptable approach
-
A commitment to helping young people overcome challenges and reach their potential
This opportunity may particularly appeal to graduates interested in education, educational psychology, counselling, therapy or specialist SEND support.
Previous experience in a school is not essential.
Experience gained through tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, coaching or other work with children and young people would be beneficial. Above all, we're interested in your attitude, enthusiasm and genuine desire to make a difference.
Build experience that supports your future
Alongside the satisfaction of helping students progress, this role offers valuable first-hand insight into inclusive education and the work of a secondary school SEND team.
You'll have the opportunity to:
-
Gain practical experience alongside experienced SEND professionals
-
Develop your understanding of supporting students with additional needs
-
Build confidence delivering 1:1 and small-group support
-
