This is an exceptional opportunity for a high-calibre graduate who is passionate about STEM education and eager to gain meaningful classroom experience.
This role is ideally suited to candidates who are considering a future career in teaching and are looking to pursue a PGCE or Initial Teacher Training (ITT) course.
The Role
As a STEM Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the secondary age range, working with students from Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential exposure to Key Stage 5). You will support learners of varying abilities, including high-achieving students and those requiring additional academic support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the classroom teacher during STEM lessons, including Mathematics, Science and related subjects.
- Providing targeted 1:1 support to students who require additional guidance or academic challenge.
- Delivering small group interventions to reinforce subject knowledge and improve attainment.
- Supporting students with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
- Assisting with lesson preparation, practical activities and classroom organisation.
- Helping to foster a positive, focused and engaging learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate

- Hold strong A-level results in STEM subjects.
- Have, or are working towards, a degree in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for STEM education and student progress.
- Are confident working with secondary-aged students across a range of year groups and abilities.
- Possess excellent communication skills and a professional, proactive attitude.
- Are considering a future career in teaching via a PGCE or ITT route.
