We have a position available for a Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant to work in a high-performing secondary school in the Sheffield area. The available role is to support teaching and learning across STEM departments, including Science, Mathematics, and Computing.
Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant opportunity:
- Full-time position available on a permanent contract – long-term temporary roles also available
- Competitive salary
- Working across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to also support KS5 (A-Level/BTEC)
- Work collaboratively with teachers and senior leaders to track and analyse pupil progress using data-driven approaches
- Immediate start or September 2026 start available
The ideal candidate:
- A graduate with a 2:1 degree or higher in a STEM discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Computer Science)
- Experience working with children or young people – desirable but not essential
- A positive, solution-focused mindset with the ability to engage learners in STEM through clear communication and subject enthusiasm
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with an interest in evidence-based teaching and learning strategies
- Available to work full-time, Monday–Friday during term time
- Must have the right to work in the UK
The Role:
The Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain practical experience within secondary STEM education. Working closely with subject teachers across various subject areas, you will develop insight into curriculum delivery, lesson planning, and assessment for learning (AfL), while supporting students to achieve at GCSE and A-Level. This role includes leading targeted intervention sessions, facilitating small-group problem-solving activities, and providing 1:1 academic support to reinforce core STEM concepts. It is particularly well-suited to graduates considering progression into teacher training (e.g., PGCE, School Direct) or careers within education, research, or STEM outreach.
