Put your STEM knowledge to work and inspire the next generation.

You've worked hard for your degree. Now, imagine using that knowledge to help young people discover what they're capable of.

Are you a STEM graduate who enjoys explaining ideas, solving problems and helping others learn? Perhaps you're considering teacher training, tutoring or another career in education and want to gain first-hand classroom experience before committing to your next step.

KPI Education is working with a supportive secondary school in Coventry seeking an enthusiastic Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant to join its team.

You'll work alongside experienced educators, helping students strengthen their understanding of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths while developing your own skills in a school environment.

What will you be doing?

As a Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant, you'll provide additional academic support to students who need encouragement, clarification or a little more time to grasp challenging concepts.

Depending on students' needs, you'll work individually, with small groups or as part of the wider classroom.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting learning across Science, Mathematics, Technology, Engineering and related subjects

  • Breaking down complex topics into clear, accessible explanations

  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group academic support

  • Encouraging problem-solving, independent thinking and effective learning habits

  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and differentiated tasks

  • Supporting practical learning and encouraging engagement with STEM subjects

  • Helping students develop confidence, motivation and curiosity

  • Providing additional guidance to learners who require further support

  • Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team

  • Sharing relevant observations and feedback on student progress

What are we looking for?

We're interested in graduates who have a strong academic foundation and the enthusiasm to help others develop their own understanding.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • A STEM-related degree, such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline

  • Ideally, a 2:1 degree or above

  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to communicate concepts effectively

  • A genuine interest in working with young people

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patience, enthusiasm and a positive approach

  • The ability to encourage, motivate and engage students

Previous classroom experience is not essential.

If you're confident in your subject, enjoy working with people and are keen to explore a career in education, we'd love to hear from you.

Where could this opportunity lead?

This role offers more than an introduction to school life. It's a chance to develop practical skills while discovering how your academic background can translate into a career supporting young people.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Gain hands-on experience in a Coventry secondary school

  • Apply your STEM knowledge in a real educational setting

  • Develop your communication, mentoring and classroom skills

  • Experience supporting students with different abilities and learning needs

  • Learn from experienced teachers and education professionals

  • Access training and professional development opportunities

  • Build relevant experience before pursuing teacher training or other education-based careers

Ready to put your degree into action?

If you're a STEM graduate looking to develop your skills, gain meaningful classroom experience and help young people build their confidence and enthusiasm for STEM, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
