Graduate Teaching Assistant – Ideal Launchpad into Teaching
A dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Sheffield is on the lookout for a dedicated and driven Graduate Teaching Assistant to join its team this September. This role is perfectly suited to recent graduates of English, Maths, or Science degrees who are keen to gain hands-on experience before progressing into teacher training.
This is a full-time, long-term position beginning in September 2025, although there is flexibility for a sooner start for the right candidate. Working across the core departments, you’ll play a vital role in academic intervention, pupil engagement, and general classroom support.

Graduate Teaching Assistant – The Role
- Long-term, full-time Graduate Teaching Assistant role
- Up to £520 per week
- Sociable working hours of 8:00-16:00, Mon/Fri
- Supporting students in English, Maths, and Science lessons
- Working with small groups and individuals to provide targeted academic support
- Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, behaviour management, and resource preparation
- Building rapport with students and encouraging a positive learning environment
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, during term time only
Graduate Teaching Assistant – Candidate Essentials
- Minimum 2:1 degree in a core subject or related field
- Strong academic record, ideally with A-levels in English, Maths, or Science
- Passion for education and helping young people succeed
- Confident, resilient, and professional personality
- Any experience in tutoring, mentoring, or working with young people is a bonus
