Contract: Full-time, term-time

A high-achieving and inclusive secondary school in Barnet is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Teaching Assistants to join their team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates who are considering a career in education and wish to gain valuable, hands-on classroom experience in a supportive and well-structured school environment.

Role Overview

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support learning across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will contribute to improving student outcomes by delivering targeted academic support and helping to create an engaging and positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of lessons across core academic subjects (English, Maths, and Science).
  • Provide one-to-one and small group intervention sessions to help raise attainment.
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom activities, and resources.
  • Support behaviour management in line with school policies.
  • Track and report on student progress and engagement.
  • Encourage positive learning behaviours, confidence, and independence.
  • Support students with a range of abilities, including those with additional learning needs.

Candidate Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant subject (or a strong academic background).
  • A genuine interest in education and working with young people.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • Experience in tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or youth work is desirable but not essential.
