The Role - Graduate Teaching Assistant Early Years

A lively and welcoming primary school in Watford is searching for a graduate to support children in their Nursery and Reception classes. As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a hands-on role in helping young learners (ages 3–5) grow in confidence, develop key skills, and discover the joy of learning.

This position is ideal for graduates interested in a future career in teaching, child psychology, or working with children with additional needs.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities - Graduate Teaching Assistant Early Years

• Supporting pupils in class, in small groups, and during one-to-one sessions
• Assisting with phonics, reading, early writing, and maths activities
• Helping to plan and run engaging, play-based lessons
• Encouraging positive behaviour, social skills, and wellbeing
• Supporting classroom routines such as snack time, playtime, and lunchtime

About You - Graduate Teaching Assistant Early Years

We’re looking for someone who is: Graduate Teaching Assistant Early Years

• A recent graduate (all degree subjects welcome)
• Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children
• A great communicator who can build strong relationships with pupils and colleagues
• Considering teacher training, SEN specialism, or a career in child development
• Experience with children is desirable, but not essential
