A welcoming and supportive primary school in Leek (ST13) is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

Working alongside experienced teachers and school leaders, you'll gain invaluable classroom experience, develop essential teaching skills, and build the confidence needed to progress into teacher training or a range of child-focused professions.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across the curriculum.
  • Deliver targeted literacy, numeracy and subject-specific interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Provide personalised 1:1 support for pupils who require additional guidance.
  • Support pupils with SEND, helping to remove barriers to learning and maximise progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour, confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organisation and learning resources.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents to support outstanding outcomes.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and inspiring learning environment where every child can thrive.

What We're Looking For

To be considered for this opportunity, you'll need:

  • A 2:1 degree or above (or be predicted to achieve one).
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, proactive and professional attitude.

Previous experience working with children is beneficial but not essential - we're looking for graduates with the motivation, commitment and potential to make a real impact in the classroom.
