The Role

As an Unqualified English Teacher, you will take on a structured teaching role with extensive support from experienced staff. Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering pre-planned English lessons to KS3 and KS4 classes.
• Supporting pupils with reading, writing, and exam skills development.
• Running intervention sessions for small groups and individual students.
• Developing effective classroom management and behaviour strategies.
• Assisting with marking, feedback, lesson preparation, and progress tracking.
• Working closely with the English department to support curriculum delivery.

This role offers a realistic insight into the day-to-day life of a teacher while providing the guidance and mentoring needed to build confidence in the classroom.

Person Specification

• A degree in English or a closely related subject (2:1 or above preferred).
• A clear intention to train as an English teacher.
• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for literature and language.
• Confident communication skills and a professional approach.
• The ability to build positive relationships with students.
• Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential.
