The Role

As a Graduate Unqualified Maths Teacher, you’ll work as part of a supportive department, gaining hands-on classroom experience while learning from experienced teachers, school leaders and education professionals.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging Maths lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

• Support GCSE students with revision and exam preparation.

• Break down challenging mathematical concepts into clear explanations.

• Plan lessons and contribute to departmental resources.

• Set and mark classwork, homework and assessments.

• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.

• Adapt teaching to support students with different abilities and learning needs.

• Build students’ confidence, independence and enthusiasm for Maths.

• Maintain high standards of behaviour, effort and achievement.

• Support intervention, revision and enrichment activities.

• Work closely with experienced teachers to develop your classroom practice.

Candidate Profile

We’re looking for graduates with the academic ability, ambition and enthusiasm to become excellent teachers.

You will ideally have:

• A degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject, with a strong academic record (First or 2:1 preferred).

• Excellent mathematical skills and strong communication abilities.

• A genuine passion for education and working with young people.

• The confidence and presence to lead a classroom.

• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.

• Resilience, patience and adaptability.

• High expectations of yourself and your students.

• A willingness to learn from experienced teachers.

• A clear ambition to pursue a long-term career in teaching.

• Previous experience as a Maths tutor, mentor, teaching assistant, coach, youth worker or volunteer is desirable but not essential.
