The Role

As a Graduate Unqualified Science Teacher, you will play a key role within a dynamic Science department, supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to contribute to Key Stage 5 depending on your subject specialism.

Working alongside experienced and highly effective practitioners, you will gradually develop the confidence and skills required to deliver lessons, while making a genuine impact on student progress and engagement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering well-structured and engaging science lessons using established resources.
  • Supporting students in developing a strong understanding of core scientific concepts.
  • Leading targeted small-group interventions to raise attainment.
  • Assisting with lesson preparation, practical work, and marking.
  • Encouraging effective revision strategies and critical scientific thinking.
  • Supporting positive behaviour management and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to support student outcomes and departmental success.

This role provides a clear and structured pathway into teaching, offering invaluable hands-on experience and professional guidance.

Candidate Profile

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

  • A degree in a Science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or similar), ideally with a 2:1 or above.

  • The ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a genuine desire to develop as a teacher.

Previous experience working with young people—such as tutoring, mentoring, or coaching—is beneficial but not essential.
