Do you have ambitions of becoming a Maths teacher and want to gain invaluable classroom experience before embarking on teacher training?
An outstanding and high-performing secondary school in the London Borough of Bromley is seeking an exceptional Mathematics graduate to join its successful Maths department as a Graduate Unqualified Maths Teacher from September. This is a full-time position for the entire academic year, with the opportunity to remain beyond this period and progress onto a salaried or school-based teacher training programme.

The Role
Working alongside an experienced and supportive Maths department, you will gradually develop your classroom practice while making a meaningful impact on students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pre-planned Maths lessons with experienced teachers.
- Supporting pupils in developing their mathematical reasoning, problem-solving and numerical confidence.
- Leading small-group intervention sessions and one-to-one academic support.
- Assisting with lesson planning, marking and assessment.
- Developing excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies.
- Becoming fully involved in the wider life of the school and Maths department.
Throughout the year, you will receive ongoing mentoring and professional development, preparing you for a progression into teacher training.
Person Specification
To be considered, you must:
- Be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:1 or First-Class degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject from a UK university.
- Be committed to pursuing a long-term career in secondary Maths teaching.
- Be able to work full-time from September for the full academic year, with the possibility of continuing beyond.
- Live within the London Borough of Bromley or within approximately one hour's commute of the school.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and strong subject knowledge.
- Be enthusiastic, resilient and passionate about helping young people succeed.
- Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential.
