Head of Geography – Job Description

• Support and scaffold the efforts of the SLT and wider Humanities team
• Plan and deliver exceptional lessons to KS3, KS4 & KS5
• Share best practice and nurture developing teachers in the Geography Department
• Support trainee teachers and manage TA/LSA team
• Deploy resources and liaise with the SEN team
• Monitor and promote progress for all
• Manage the Geography curriculum
• Coordinate cross-humanities learning opportunities with other subject leaders
• Develop a cohesive geography team
• Promote subject enrichment and exciting learning

Head of Geography Person Specification

• Must have QTS
• Must be an experienced Geography teacher
• Leadership experience is beneficial but not essential
• Ideally to hold an undergrad Degree in Geography from a top University
• Similar experience in an inner-city school will be beneficial
• Ability to teach and lead to an Outstanding level
• Ability to demonstrate an enthusiasm for Teaching and Learning
