Duties:
We are seeking an experienced and qualified HGV MOT Tester to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out statutory MOT inspections on Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), trailers, and other applicable vehicles in accordance with DVSA standards and company procedures.
Salary: £22.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, between 6:00am and 5:00pm
This role requires a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and compliance while delivering a high standard of workmanship and supporting the wider workshop team.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct DVSA-approved MOT inspections on HGVs, trailers, and other applicable vehicles.

Ensure all inspections are completed in accordance with current DVSA regulations and testing standards.

Accurately complete MOT documentation and maintain electronic inspection records.

Identify, document, and report vehicle defects, providing clear recommendations for any required repairs.

Carry out quality inspections on completed repair work where required.

Maintain and ensure the correct calibration and care of MOT testing equipment.

Keep the MOT testing area clean, organised, and compliant with Health & Safety requirements.

Liaise effectively with workshop technicians, service advisors, and customers regarding vehicle condition and MOT results.

Keep up to date with changes in DVSA legislation and testing procedures.

Support general workshop duties during quieter MOT testing periods.

Comply with all company policies relating to Health & Safety, environmental standards, and quality management.
Essential Requirements

Current DVSA Authorised Examiner Tester (AET) qualification for HGV MOT testing.

Full UK driving licence.

Previous experience working on HGVs within a commercial vehicle workshop.

Excellent knowledge of DVSA MOT testing regulations and inspection standards.

Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

Good IT skills with the ability to complete electronic inspection records accurately.

Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Ability to work independently and as part of a professional workshop team.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
-
HGV Category C or C+E driving licence.
-
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
-
IRTEC accreditation.
-
Experience using commercial vehicle diagnostic equipment.

Previous experience testing HGV trailers.
