Senior Inventory Controller

Salary: £38,000 TO £42,000 doe
Location: Crewe
Hours: Full-Time

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Inventory Controller to lead and oversee inventory operations, ensuring high levels of stock accuracy, robust inventory controls, and excellent service delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and analytical inventory professional looking to take the next step in their career.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing inventory processes, maintaining stock accuracy, driving continuous improvements, and leading a small inventory team. Working closely with operational teams, you will ensure inventory integrity whilst supporting business performance through effective stock management and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance inventory control procedures and best practices.
  • Monitor stock levels to ensure product availability and minimise stock shortages.
  • Carry out inventory forecasting using historical data and operational trends.
  • Conduct regular stock audits, cycle counts and reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and stock variances.
  • Manage inventory systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to improve inventory flow and storage efficiency.
  • Analyse inventory performance and produce regular management reports.
  • Monitor and report on key inventory KPIs.
  • Lead, coach and develop Inventory Controllers and PI Clerks.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, health and safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes, efficiency and cost control.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years' experience within Inventory Management at Team Leader level or above.
  • Strong experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to analyse large volumes of data.
  • Excellent understanding of inventory control principles and best practices.
  • Previous experience leading and developing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Experience of Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • DGSA qualification or willingness to undertake training.
