About the Role

KPI Education is working with a thriving secondary school in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant for the upcoming academic year.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers, SEND professionals, and pastoral staff to support students both academically and personally, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The role is offered initially on an academic year contract through KPI Education, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance and school requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group academic support.

  • Support students with SEND where required.

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.

  • Help students remain focused and engaged in learning.

  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour.

  • Encourage positive attitudes towards learning and achievement.

  • Support classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources.

  • Assist with intervention programmes to improve attainment.

  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities.

  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A degree qualification or be due to graduate this academic year.

  • A genuine passion for working with young people.

  • An interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach.

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience in tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering, or working with young people is desirable but not essential.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Live within approximately one hour of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames by car or public transport.

  • Have the legal right to work in the UK and provide relevant documentation.

  • Be able to provide proof of address.

  • Provide two satisfactory professional references.

  • Be willing to complete all safeguarding and compliance checks prior to employment.

DBS Requirements

Applicants who already hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate registered with the DBS Update Service are encouraged to apply.

Candidates who do not currently hold a DBS on the Update Service can still be considered, and KPI Education will support the application process before employment begins.
