Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Winsford, Cheshire

Working Hours: Monday – Thursday, 07:00 – 17:00 (4-day working week)

£35,000 - £38,000 DOE


The Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical bias to join our engineering team. The role will focus on maintaining and improving high-speed production and packaging equipment, particularly filling lines, cappers, and labelling machinery.

This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for minimising downtime, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement projects to ensure reliable and efficient production output.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on production machinery, with a focus on filling, capping, and labelling equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults quickly to minimise downtime
  • Support improvements in line efficiency and reliability through engineering solutions
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure machinery is operating to required standards
  • Assist with machinery installations, modifications, and upgrades
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
  • Adhere to all health & safety and compliance requirements

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing environment (ideally FMCG, food, beverage, or packaging)
  • Strong mechanical engineering skills – pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, conveyors, and automated packaging machinery
  • Hands-on experience with filling, capping, and labelling equipment is highly desirable
  • Ability to fault-find and carry out repairs under pressure
  • Basic electrical knowledge would be beneficial but not essential
  • Strong team player with good communication skills
