Duties:

Job Title: Mechanical Fitter (Days Shift - Including Weekends)
Location: Milnthorpe, Cumbria
Salary: Circa £39,000 + Overtime (1.5x Rate)

About the Role:
We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team at a busy paper mill in Milnthorpe. This is a days-based role operating on a varied shift pattern, including weekend working, supporting the continuous operation of a high-volume production facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all mechanical systems
  • Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise downtime
  • Diagnose faults and perform repairs on a wide range of plant equipment
  • Work on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, rollers, and hydraulic systems
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and reliability projects
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety regulations

Shift Pattern:

  • Days-based role with a rotating shift pattern
  • Includes weekend working as part of the roster
  • Flexibility required to support operational demands

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment (paper mill experience desirable)
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with rotating equipment and mechanical systems
  • Good understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
