MFL Graduate Teaching Assistant

(Spanish & French)
Location: Hammersmith, West London
Salary: £26,500 – £30,500 per annum
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term | September 2026 Start

Fluent in Spanish? Confident in French? Passionate about languages and considering a future in teaching?

A vibrant and high-achieving secondary school in Hammersmith is looking to appoint a talented MFL Graduate Teaching Assistant to support their Spanish and French departments. This is an excellent opportunity for a linguistics or modern languages graduate who wants to gain immersive, hands-on experience in a dynamic school environment.

The Opportunity

Languages are a real strength within this school. Uptake at GCSE and A-Level is strong, and the department has built a culture where speaking, confidence and cultural appreciation are celebrated.

As an MFL Graduate Teaching Assistant, you won’t be limited to general classroom support. Instead, you’ll play a key academic role in helping pupils develop fluency, accuracy and confidence across KS3–KS5.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Spanish and French lessons across KS3 and KS4 (A-Level exposure available)
  • Delivering small-group speaking and grammar interventions
  • Running targeted GCSE revision sessions
  • Supporting high-achieving pupils aiming for top grades
  • Assisting with oral exam preparation
  • Contributing to language enrichment activities and cultural events

You will work closely with experienced MFL teachers, gaining valuable insight into curriculum planning, assessment and effective language pedagogy.

Who This Role Would Suit

This role is ideal for:

  • A Spanish and/or French graduate with a 2:1 or First-Class degree
  • A candidate with strong A-Level results in languages
  • An aspiring teacher looking to pursue PGCE or salaried training
  • A confident communicator who enjoys working with young people
  • Someone passionate about promoting language learning and global awareness

Previous tutoring, mentoring or classroom experience is beneficial but not essential — enthusiasm, subject knowledge and professionalism are key.

What You’ll Gain

  • Meaningful, subject-specific classroom experience
  • The opportunity to support pupils at GCSE and A-Level
  • Mentoring from an experienced Head of MFL
  • A clear pathway into teacher training
  • Long-term stability (no daily supply work)
  • Ongoing support from KPI Education

This Hammersmith secondary school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.

If you’re ready to inspire the next generation of linguists and gain invaluable experience in education, apply today or contact Ryan at KPI Education for further details.
