Position Overview
- Perform proactive and reactive maintenance on electro-mechanical processing and packaging machinery
- Apply troubleshooting techniques to maintain smooth production processes
- Maintain high quality standards across manufacturing operations
- Work both independently and as part of a fast-paced maintenance team
- Support and promote the organisation's mission, values, and priorities
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and practices
- Perform reactive and proactive maintenance on packaging and process equipment
- Carry out preventative maintenance (PPMs) and reactive maintenance as directed
- Troubleshoot breakdowns across a range of equipment to minimise downtime
- Support Line Leaders and Production teams to improve production efficiency
- Maintain documentation and historical maintenance records
- Keep all required paperwork and CMMS systems updated
- Identify spare part requirements and maintain appropriate stock levels
- Operate safely ensuring risks to self and others are minimised
- Work with production teams to maximise running time of production lines
- Communicate technical and operational issues effectively across departments
- Attend maintenance handover meetings and update maintenance boards
- Lead improvement projects and ensure deadlines are met
Skills & Experience
- Time-served apprentice
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills
- ONC/HNC/NVQ Level 3 Engineering and Maintenance qualification
- Experience working with processing and packaging machinery
- Knowledge of PLC systems and inspection camera systems
- 18th Edition wiring regulations knowledge
- Maintenance engineering experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments
- Ability to diagnose and resolve PLC and control system issues
- Experience with inverter, servo, and DC drive systems
- Experience working with circuits ranging from 415V to 24VDC
- Ability to analyse technical problems and implement effective solutions
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles
- Knowledge of engineering challenges within MedTech or Pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and work with urgency
- Proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office, SAP, and Maximo (CMMS)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and diagnose faults independently
Qualifications / Education
- Craft technician qualifications such as NVQ Level 4, PLC certification, City & Guilds, ONC/HNC, BTEC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline
