Shift-based role

We're working with a leading manufacturer within the Global Healthcare / Medical Devices sector who are looking to appoint a Shift Team Leader to strengthen their production leadership team.

This is a hands-on leadership role with real autonomy, responsible for managing people, production, quality, and continuous improvement on shift within a regulated manufacturing environment.


The Role

As Shift Team Leader, you will have full responsibility for the effective management of personnel and machinery on your shift, ensuring production plans are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

You'll lead a team of circa 10-20 operators (shift dependent), drive performance, support development, and play a key role in operational improvement projects across the site.

Key focus areas include:

  • Leading, motivating, and developing production teams on shift

  • Delivering production targets while maintaining HSE, quality, and compliance standards

  • Ensuring products meet customer and regulatory requirements

  • Managing shift manning, forward planning, and capacity

  • Driving continuous improvement using structured methodologies (RCA, PDCA, Lean tools)

  • Ownership of operator training, competency, and QMS adherence

  • Supporting HR-led activities including recruitment, performance management, and employee relations

  • Producing accurate reports and using site management systems effectively


What We're Looking For

You'll be an experienced Team Leader / Supervisor from a manufacturing environment, ideally within regulated industries such as medical devices, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or similar.

Essential / Desirable Experience:

  • 3-5 years' operational or manufacturing leadership experience

  • Proven people management and shift leadership capability

  • Strong working knowledge of HSE standards (IOSH Managing Safely advantageous)

  • Experience working within ISO-driven environments (ISO 13485, ISO 9001 essential; ISO 14001 / 45001 desirable)

  • Continuous improvement mindset (Lean / Green Belt beneficial)

  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage across all levels of the business

  • Comfortable managing performance, appraisals, and team development

Technical & Systems Skills:

  • Good IT skills (MS Word, Excel)

  • Experience using production / reporting systems (SAP advantageous)

  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
