Make a Difference in Young People's Lives
Are you a graduate looking for a rewarding opportunity to support young people facing barriers to education?
We are recruiting a resilient, adaptable and committed Behaviour Mentor to provide one-to-one support to children and young people who may have experienced school exclusions, behavioural difficulties, additional needs or prolonged periods out of education.
Working closely with schools, you will help pupils rebuild their confidence, develop positive behaviours and re-engage with learning. The role has a strong pastoral focus and requires someone who can build trusting relationships, remain calm under pressure and adapt their approach to individual needs.
You will support pupils in educational settings and the wider community, including accompanying them on planned outings to develop their social skills, independence and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide tailored one-to-one mentoring to young people facing barriers to education.
-
Build positive relationships to encourage trust, confidence and engagement.
-
Support pupils experiencing behavioural, emotional or social challenges.
-
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and essential life skills.
-
Work closely with school staff and other professionals to support individual progress.
-
Adapt to changing situations and respond calmly to challenging behaviour.
-
Help pupils re-engage with learning and work towards positive educational outcomes.
What We're Looking For
-
A graduate from any discipline; Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Education or similar subjects would be advantageous.
-
A resilient, patient and adaptable individual who can remain professional under pressure.
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
-
A proactive and reliable approach to supporting young people.
-
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential, as the role involves travelling to support pupils and accompanying them on outings.
Previous experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals would be beneficial, but graduates with transferable skills and the right attitude are encouraged to apply.
