Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time, term-time position, Monday–Friday
  • October 2026 start
  • Earn up to £540 per week as a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant
  • Long-term placement within a supportive and inclusive Liverpool primary school
  • Work with pupils across both KS1 and KS2
  • Excellent opportunity for graduates considering Educational Psychology, SEN, teaching, or other child-focused careers
  • Applicants should hold a 2:1 degree or above in Psychology or a related subject
  • Previous experience working with children through schools, volunteering, mentoring, youth work, or similar settings is highly beneficial
  • Provide personalised support to pupils with SEN, behavioural, social, or emotional needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support staff to deliver targeted interventions

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to pupils’ development both inside and outside the classroom. You may provide dedicated 1:1 support to children with additional needs or work with small groups to help develop communication, confidence, social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience.

This role offers an excellent introduction to the ways psychological knowledge can be applied within an educational environment. You’ll gain first-hand experience of supporting children with a range of individual needs while developing practical skills that can be valuable for future study and careers across SEN, behaviour, child development, mental health, and education.

The school is seeking a patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic Psychology graduate who is genuinely motivated to help young people succeed. You’ll need strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to form positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

You’ll work closely with experienced teachers and support professionals, giving you the opportunity to observe different approaches to learning and pupil support while developing your own understanding of the education environment.

Whether you’re considering postgraduate study in Psychology or Educational Psychology, teacher training, SEN, or a career supporting children and young people, this position provides an excellent opportunity to gain meaningful school-based experience and build a strong foundation for your next step.
