KPI Education is working with a high-achieving primary school in Chester that is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team for the full academic year.

The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across the primary classroom and work closely with teachers to create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.

Your Psychology background will give you a valuable foundation for understanding child development, behaviour, communication and individual needs.

This role would be particularly suited to graduates considering a future career in Educational Psychology, Child Psychology, Teaching, SEN, Counselling or other child-focused professions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with their learning throughout the school day

  • Work alongside class teachers to support engaging lessons

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required

  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience

  • Support pupils with their social and emotional development

  • Encourage positive behaviour and classroom engagement

  • Assist pupils who may require additional learning support

  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils

  • Contribute to a calm, encouraging and inclusive classroom

  • Support teachers with classroom activities and daily routines

Requirements

Essential:

  • Psychology degree with a 2:1 or above

  • Genuine interest in working with children

  • Strong understanding of child development and behaviour

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patient, enthusiastic and approachable

  • Confident building positive relationships with children

  • Reliable and committed to the full academic year

  • Keen to develop a career working with children or within education

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with children

  • Tutoring or mentoring experience

  • Voluntary experience within schools or youth settings

Previous school experience is not essential for the right Psychology graduate.

8:00am–3:30pm
