About the Role
Working as a Russell Group Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will become a key member of a thriving subject department. The school is keen to recruit graduates who can support pupils academically and act as positive role models for students considering university pathways.
As a Russell Group Graduate Teaching Assistant, your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Supporting lessons across your specialist subject area from KS3 through to KS5
- Providing academic intervention sessions on a 1:1 basis and with small groups
- Helping students prepare for GCSE and A-Level assessments
- Encouraging high-achieving pupils to aim for top university destinations
- Supporting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities
- Tracking student progress and helping pupils overcome academic challenges
This Russell Group Graduate Teaching Assistant position provides excellent exposure to lesson delivery, behaviour management strategies, and differentiated learning approaches—perfect preparation for a future PGCE or salaried teacher training programme.
Candidate Profile
The school is seeking a motivated and academically strong graduate who is passionate about education. The successful Russell Group Graduate Teaching Assistant will ideally have:
- A First-Class or strong 2:1 degree from a Russell Group university
- Excellent GCSE and A-Level academic background
- A genuine interest in becoming a teacher in the future
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Confidence supporting pupils in an academic environment
- A proactive, positive attitude towards learning and development
Graduates from core subjects such as English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Psychology, MFL or Computer Science are particularly encouraged to apply.
