About You

We are looking for a committed and compassionate Science Teacher who understands the challenges — and rewards — of working within an SEMH setting. You will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience teaching Science at secondary level
  • Have experience working within an SEMH school (essential)
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills and emotional resilience
  • Be patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs
  • Be adaptable and creative in your teaching approach
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be committed to inclusive education and helping every student succeed

The Role

As a Science Teacher in this SEMH setting, you will play a vital role in supporting students who may have faced barriers to learning in mainstream education.

You will deliver engaging and accessible Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, adapting your teaching to meet a wide range of needs and abilities.

You will also be instrumental in building strong relationships, creating a safe and structured classroom environment, and helping students develop both academically and personally. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering differentiated and engaging Science lessons
  • Supporting students with SEMH needs to re-engage with learning and build confidence
  • Creating a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment
  • Using a patient and flexible approach to behaviour management
  • Monitoring progress and implementing targeted interventions
  • Working closely with pastoral teams and external professionals
  • Contributing to curriculum development and the wider school ethos
