Are you a Speech & Language Therapist passionate about supporting children and young people with complex communication needs?

Do you want to work as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team helping pupils access education through Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology?

We are seeking a Speech & Language Therapist to join a highly regarded specialist communication service supporting schools, families and education professionals across Greenwich and the surrounding areas.

Working within a collaborative team of therapists, specialist teachers and assistive technology professionals, you will support children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs, helping them maximise independence, participation and educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess children and young people with complex communication needs across a range of educational settings.
  • Develop, implement and review individual communication programmes and intervention plans.
  • Recommend, implement and support Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems and assistive technology solutions.
  • Work closely with schools, families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent communication support.
  • Provide training, coaching and advice to education staff, parents and carers.
  • Support the selection, programming and effective use of communication devices and software.
  • Contribute to EHCP assessments, annual reviews and professional reports.
  • Deliver both direct and indirect therapy interventions.
  • Support transitions between educational settings to ensure continuity of communication provision.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and outcome measures.
  • Contribute to service development, training resources and best practice initiatives.

Requirements

  • Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
  • HCPC Registration as a Speech & Language Therapist.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Experience supporting children and young people with SEND.
  • Knowledge of Autism, developmental language disorders and complex communication needs.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary working within educational settings.
  • Excellent communication, report writing and relationship-building skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with AAC systems and communication devices.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and communication software.
  • Experience contributing to EHCP processes and annual reviews.
  • Previous experience within specialist schools, resource provisions or community paediatric services.
  • Experience delivering training to staff and families.
