KPI Education is partnering with outstanding special schools and SEN provisions across Wakefield to recruit compassionate, skilled SEN Teachers for permanent, full-time positions starting September 2026. Whether you are an Early Career Teacher with a passion for inclusive education, or an experienced SEN practitioner ready for a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.
The Role
As a SEN Teacher in Wakefield, you'll work with pupils across a wide range of needs — including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), and complex and profound needs. You'll plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to each pupil's individual targets, working closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and families to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.
This is a role that demands creativity, patience, and genuine commitment — and one that offers a level of job satisfaction that is difficult to find anywhere else in teaching.
What's on Offer
- Permanent, full-time SEN Teacher positions with September 2026 starts
- Salary on MPS/UPS £32,916 – £49,084 depending on experience
- Roles available across special schools, SEMH provisions, and mainstream schools with SEN units across Wakefield
- Highly supportive working environments with strong leadership and dedicated inclusion teams
- Structured CPD and specialist training in areas such as autism, behaviour management, and therapeutic approaches
- Clear progression pathways — including SENCO, Head of Year, and senior leadership opportunities for the right candidate
- Smaller class sizes allowing for genuinely meaningful, relationship-based teaching
- Schools well connected across Wakefield and the surrounding area
Who We're Looking For
- A qualified Teacher with QTS (or on track to achieve QTS by September 2026)
- A degree in Education, Psychology, or any subject with relevant SEN experience (2:1 or above preferred)
- Experience working with pupils with SEN, either in a teaching or support capacity — whether in schools, residential care, or youth settings
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach with the resilience to thrive in a demanding but deeply rewarding environment
- Strong skills in differentiation, planning, and adapting the curriculum to meet a wide range of individual needs
- A genuine belief in the potential of every pupil, regardless of their starting point
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to work effectively with pupils, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Must have the right to work in the UK
