A highly regarded all-age SEN school in Lambeth is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teacher to join its growing team. The school supports pupils across both primary and secondary phases with a range of needs including Autism, Speech, Language and Communication Needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties, SEMH and complex learning needs.
The successful candidate will teach either a primary or secondary class, depending on experience and preference, working alongside experienced support staff, therapists and senior leaders to deliver engaging, highly personalised learning experiences that enable every pupil to achieve meaningful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs
- Develop and implement personalised learning programmes linked to EHCP outcomes
- Create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where pupils can flourish
- Support pupils with Autism, communication needs, learning difficulties and associated additional needs
- Promote communication, emotional regulation, independence and social development throughout the curriculum
- Work collaboratively with Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists and wider professionals
- Lead and manage classroom support staff to ensure high-quality provision
- Monitor progress, assess learning and contribute to annual reviews and EHCP processes
- Build positive relationships with families and contribute to the wider school community
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Has experience teaching within Primary, Secondary, SEND or specialist educational settings
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of inclusive and personalised learning approaches
- Is confident adapting learning to meet a range of cognitive, communication and sensory needs
- Has excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Is passionate about helping every pupil achieve their potential
Desirable Experience
- Teaching pupils with Autism, SEMH, Moderate Learning Difficulties or Speech and Language Needs
- Experience using communication approaches such as PECS, Makaton, AAC, Visual Supports or Total Communication
- Knowledge of sensory regulation strategies, trauma-informed practice and autism-friendly approaches
- Experience contributing to EHCP reviews and person-centred planning
