We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant position across a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Bolton.

The school is seeking a committed individual to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1), and Key Stage 2 (KS2).

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs to access learning within a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals, your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
  • Supporting children with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Supporting communication, language, and social interaction skills
  • Creating a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff and SENCOs

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Hold a degree in an educational related field (Psychology, Primary Education, Health & Social Care etc)
  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant within a primary school setting
  • Demonstrate an understanding of SEND, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs
  • Have experience supporting pupils with EHCPs and individual learning plans
  • Be patient, resilient, adaptable, and nurturing in your approach
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have strong spoken English skills to effectively support pupils, including those with English as an Additional Language (EAL)
  • Have the right to work in the UK
