The Role
As SENCO, you will take strategic and operational responsibility for SEND provision across the school, ensuring all students with additional needs receive the highest quality support and intervention.
The role will involve:
- Leading and developing the school's SEND strategy and provision.
- Managing EHCPs, annual reviews and SEND support plans.
- Monitoring progress and outcomes for students with SEND.
- Working closely with parents, carers and external agencies.
- Supporting, training and developing teaching and support staff.
- Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
- Line managing SEND support staff and intervention programmes.
- Contributing to whole-school inclusion and pastoral initiatives.
- Analysing data to identify trends and improve student outcomes.
In addition to your SENCO responsibilities, you will also maintain a teaching timetable, allowing you to continue impacting students directly in the classroom whilst leading SEND provision across the school.
Person Specification
To be considered for this position, applicants must:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Hold a recognised secondary teaching qualification.
- Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO).
- Have successful teaching experience within a secondary school setting.
- Possess a strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practice.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
- Have a passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Interview Process
The school is looking to interview strong candidates during the Autumn Term for a January 2027 start.

- Attend a formal panel interview.
- Plan and deliver a lesson within their specialist subject area.

- Demonstrate their understanding of current SEND legislation, intervention strategies and whole-school inclusion.
