Senior Team Leader (Food Manufacturing)
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:15am - 3:15pm (42.5 hours per week)
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Team Leader to join a busy manufacturing operation based in Stoke-on-Trent.
As the Senior Team Leader, you will take ownership of your production area, ensuring daily targets are achieved whilst maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety, Quality, Hygiene and Productivity. You will lead, motivate and develop your team, ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently and to customer specifications.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Team Leader or Senior Team Leader looking to join a well-established business with genuine opportunities for development.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, motivate and support production teams to achieve daily operational targets
- Promote a positive, inclusive and high-performing working environment
- Conduct regular performance reviews and competency assessments
- Coach and mentor Team Leaders and Operatives, supporting their ongoing development
- Ensure all employees receive the appropriate training and are fully competent before carrying out tasks
- Maintain effective communication with Production Management and other departments
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times
- Report and manage any safety concerns, hazards or near misses promptly
- Ensure employees wear the correct PPE and follow safe working practices
- Promote excellent housekeeping and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards
- Ensure all food safety, hygiene and legal compliance requirements are met
Quality & Production
- Ensure production plans are delivered on time and in full
- Monitor product quality, traceability, packaging and labelling standards
- Ensure all quality documentation and production records are completed accurately
- Carry out routine quality, weight and process checks
- Ensure customer specifications and legal requirements are consistently achieved
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Organise labour effectively to maximise productivity
- Monitor production KPIs including efficiency, waste, downtime and yields
- Identify opportunities to improve performance and reduce waste
- Manage line changeovers, breaks and downtime efficiently
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production department
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience in a Team Leader or Senior Team Leader position within a manufacturing or food production environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations
- Experience working towards production KPIs and targets
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads effectively
- Good IT skills
