The Opportunity
We're working with a leading chemical manufacturing business to recruit a Shift Manager for their high-performing site. This is a shift-based leadership role, working closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Planning teams to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will oversee production teams across multiple processes including mixing, blending, and dispersions, ensuring operational targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance. This role offers structured progression, with the expectation to gain experience across all production areas and move towards the next step in your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety: Ensure strict adherence to site safety protocols, COMAH requirements, and promote a positive safety culture.

  • Production: Oversee daily operations to deliver on production targets, manage maintenance coordination, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Quality: Maintain high product standards, investigate quality issues, and collaborate with R&D to optimise processes.

  • Leadership: Lead, develop, and motivate your shift team, ensuring performance management, training, and compliance are consistently achieved.

  • Compliance: Uphold environmental and regulatory requirements, support inspections, and maintain accurate documentation.

  • Continuous Improvement: Champion lean initiatives, process optimisation, waste reduction, and efficiency improvements across operations.

About You

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar, OR substantial experience in chemical manufacturing leadership.

  • Proven track record in a high-hazard environment (COMAH / speciality chemicals desirable).

  • Strong people leadership, coaching, and development skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication abilities.

  • Demonstrable experience driving operational efficiencies, cost reduction, and process improvements.

  • Comfortable leading teams in fast-paced, safety-critical environments.
