KPI Recruiting are currently supporting a leading recycling and waste management facility in Stoke-on-Trent with the recruitment of a Permanent Site Operative.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining yard work, forklift operation, loading and unloading vehicles, waste handling, and general site duties. The position will involve working both outdoors and within operational areas of the recycling plant, making it ideal for candidates who enjoy practical work and being active throughout the day.
The Role
As a Site Operative, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the recycling facility, ensuring incoming and outgoing waste materials are handled safely, stored correctly, and processed in accordance with site procedures and health & safety standards.
This is a physically demanding role that will involve regular outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Duties Include
- Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck safely and efficiently.
- Unloading incoming vehicles and transporting materials around the site.
- Weighing incoming loads using the site weighbridge.
- Assisting with waste inspection and segregation processes.
- Storing materials safely within designated areas.
- Preparing outgoing loads for dispatch.
- Loading vehicles, including hook loaders.
- Supporting waste processing and bulking operations.
- Repalletising and stacking materials to maximise storage capacity.
- Completing operational paperwork and batch records.
- General yard duties including sweeping, litter picking, housekeeping, and maintaining site cleanliness.
- Adhering to all Health & Safety and environmental procedures.
Requirements
Essential
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence.
Desirable
- Previous experience within recycling, waste management, manufacturing, industrial, or warehouse environments.
- Experience working in an outdoor yard environment.
