Speech & Communication SEN Teaching Assistant – Role Details
- Full-time, long-term role within a welcoming specialist SEN setting
- Earn up to £550 per week
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30–15:30
- Support students with speech, language, and social communication needs
- Assist with building independence and preparing learners for life beyond school
- An excellent opportunity for aspiring Speech & Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, or SEND professionals
- Work 1:1 or in small groups under the guidance of experienced staff and therapists
Ideal Candidate – Speech & Communication SEN Teaching Assistant
- Minimum 2:1 degree in Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Linguistics, or a related subject
- A genuine passion for helping young people with additional needs
- Emotional resilience, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Calm, adaptable, and professional under pressure
- Prior experience supporting young people is helpful but not essential
In this Speech & Communication SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will work primarily with post-16 students, many of whom also have physical disabilities and require assistance with mobility or personal care. You’ll support their academic development as well as their communication skills, independence, and confidence. This role requires a warm, person-centred approach and a deep commitment to student wellbeing.
