A caring and supportive primary school in Manchester (M15 5PB) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Support Assistant (SALT) to join their committed team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside teachers, the SENCO, and external Speech and Language Therapists to help pupils develop the confidence and communication skills they need to thrive both academically and socially.

The Role
As a Speech and Language Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). Working alongside teaching staff and specialist professionals, you will help children develop the communication skills they need to engage confidently in school life.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering speech and language intervention programmes under the guidance of the SENCO and Speech and Language Therapists
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with communication and language needs
- Supporting children with Autism, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), Speech Sound Disorders, and other communication difficulties
- Encouraging language development through structured activities and classroom support
- Reinforcing therapy strategies within everyday learning
- Monitoring pupil progress and recording observations to support individual learning plans
- Promoting pupil confidence, engagement, and independence
- Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for pupils

About You
To be considered for this role, you will:
- Have experience working with children in a school, childcare, or educational setting (desirable but not essential)
- Have an interest in speech, language, communication, and child development
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND or Speech and Language needs is desirable
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
- Be proactive, organised, and eager to support children's individual needs
- Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
- Have a genuine passion for improving children's communication and confidence
- Have the right to work in the UK
