We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join a newly established SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) secondary school in Manchester, opening in September 2026. The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to students who may face barriers to learning. Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team, you will help create a calm, structured, and engaging classroom environment where every student can thrive.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students with SEMH needs in both group and 1:1 settings
- Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons
- Helping implement behaviour management strategies & positive reinforcement
- Supporting students in developing confidence, social skills, and independence
- Supervising and supporting students during breaks and transitions
- Assisting with administrative and classroom tasks as needed
About You : The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who are patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
You should:
- Have previous experience working with children or young people (experience in SEMH or SEN settings is highly desirable).
- Be patient, empathetic, and confident in supporting a range of behaviours and abilities.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be adaptable, proactive, and committed to helping students succeed.
- Be a team player who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
