Are you an experienced behaviour mentor, youth worker, social care professional or education practitioner looking to make a genuine impact on the lives of vulnerable young people?
KPI Education are working in partnership with a specialist East London outreach provision to appoint a dedicated Therapeutic Education Practitioner (TEP) to support pupils with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role
As a Therapeutic Education Practitioner, you will support pupils in achieving their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets and social care objectives through direct educational and therapeutic work within the community.
Working closely with teaching staff and senior leadership, you will:
- Support the delivery of lessons and educational activities tailored to EHCP outcomes
- Plan and deliver creative, innovative projects both in school and within community settings (libraries, museums, therapy hubs, etc.)
- Lead on behaviour management strategies and reward systems to promote self-esteem and achievement
- Take responsibility for home–school liaison including attendance, behaviour and academic progress
- Travel with pupils to therapy hubs to engage in specialist therapeutic interventions
- Contribute to comprehensive risk assessments and ensure appropriate supervision at all times
- Maintain accurate documentation and provide reports for parents/carers and Local Authorities
- Uphold safeguarding, child protection and health & safety procedures at all times
This role requires someone confident in acting as the appropriate adult during working hours, including collecting and returning pupils in line with agreed service proposals.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking professionals who have:
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience working directly with high-risk or complex pupils (education, youth work, social care or similar setting)
- Substantial experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and neurodiverse profiles
- Experience leading behaviour management strategies
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Numeracy and Literacy qualifications at Level 2 or above
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
- The resilience, commitment and emotional intelligence to work in challenging but rewarding environments
Relevant qualifications in Education, Youth Work or Social Work are desirable, though candidates willing to work towards further qualifications will also be considered.
