Are you an experienced Speech & Language Therapist or Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step into a leadership position within a specialist SEN setting?
Do you want to play a key role in shaping therapy provision, influencing whole-school practice and improving outcomes for children and young people with complex additional needs?
A specialist SEN school in Brixton is seeking a Therapy Lead to oversee and develop its multidisciplinary therapy provision. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established therapeutic environment supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH, Speech, Language and Communication Needs and complex learning difficulties.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the delivery of a high-quality therapy service, ensuring therapeutic approaches are embedded throughout the school and aligned to each pupil's educational and developmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Speech & Language Therapy and/or Occupational Therapy provision across the school
- Oversee assessments, intervention planning and therapy delivery to ensure high-quality outcomes
- Ensure therapy provision is closely aligned to EHCP outcomes and individual pupil needs
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders, teachers, families and external professionals
- Support, supervise and develop therapists, assistants and wider staff teams
- Promote consistent therapeutic approaches across classrooms and the wider school environment
- Monitor service quality, outcomes, compliance and clinical governance
- Contribute to strategic planning and the ongoing development of SEND and inclusion provision
- Provide training, guidance and support to education staff to maximise pupil progress
- Support the development of a holistic, integrated and child-centred therapeutic culture
Requirements
- Degree in Speech & Language Therapy or Occupational Therapy
- HCPC Registration essential
- Significant experience working within SEN schools, specialist education or paediatric services
- Strong understanding of Autism, SEMH, communication needs, sensory needs and neurodiversity-affirming practice
- Experience leading, mentoring or supervising colleagues desirable
- Excellent multidisciplinary working and stakeholder management skills
- Strong knowledge of EHCP processes and therapy provision within education settings
- Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs
