The Role – 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time, long-term role starting immediately
  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with complex needs (ASC, SEMH, ADHD, or developmental delays)
  • Support classroom engagement, emotional regulation, and communication
  • Assist with academic learning tasks tailored to the student's individual needs
  • Implement behaviour strategies and help the student manage triggers and transitions
  • Work with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised support plans
  • Track and record progress, providing updates to staff and parents where necessary
  • Help create a safe, positive, structured learning environment that enables the student to thrive

Person Specification

  • A degree in Education, Psychology or a related field (desirable)
  • Experience supporting children with SEN, autism, SEMH, or behavioural needs (preferred)
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a calm and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers and reach their full potential
