The role
In this Graduate Physics Teaching Assistant, you will learn how to engage in observing and learning from the practices that are key to successful teaching. This Graduate Physics Teaching Assistant post will allow you to develop the key skills of pupils' engagement that are essential foundation training before becoming a Physics Teacher. Daily you will be required to work with small groups and on a 1:1 basis, or in a full class. The focus will be working with students between KS4 and 5 particularly within Physics but also may require some Chemistry and Biology.
The School
This high-achieving, non-selective secondary school was established in 2012 with a mission to support students of all ability levels to higher levels of attainment and enthusiasm for further study. They are a specialist school in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) taking on the challenge of getting more students enthused and committed to subjects which have historically seen a less diverse student uptake.
Students gained 85% 5 or more A* – C passes at GCSE in 2017 and 78% 5 A*-C (including English and Maths). They are very proud that in recent years over 50% of all GCSE grades are at A or A* which rivals many grammar schools in the local area.
